DESCRIPTION
This trail starts at the Big Dam Lake parking lot and takes about 2.5 hours to
complete. It is an easy trail to walk on and is refreshing on warmer days.
Many of the Hemlock trees along the path are over 300 years old and their
magnificence can be felt while walking along the darkened forest floor. The rest
of the trail goes through mixed hardwoods, fir and pine with cinnamon fern in
the swamp and boardwalk area and coralroot under the hemlocks.
This is a great cross country trail in the winter and is very pretty in the
fall with the colorful mushrooms. An additional 3.5 km of skiing is necessary
to reach the trail head at the Big Dam parking lot in winter.
Kejimkujik is a National Park. Phone the park Visitor Centre at (902) 682-2772
for back-country maps, reservations (for regular and back-country sites),
information on park regulations, and any additional information.
Those intending to camp at a back-country site must first register at the park
Visitor Centre.
