DESCRIPTION
This gravelled trail begins in the parking lot at the end of the main park road
and is an easy walk. It includes a boardwalk route which takes about one hour to
complete. Vegetation along this trail includes Hemlock, Balsam Fir, a beautiful stand
of Beech, Huckleberry, and Rhodora. It is also home to saprophytes which are
plants that exist without the benefit of direct sunlight, but instead extract
nourishment and energy from decaying organic material.
Due to the many sharp turns on narrow sections, Grafton Lake Trail poses difficulty
to cross-country skiiers. However, it is suitable for snow-shoers.
Kejimkujik is a National Park. Phone the park Visitor Centre at (902) 682-2772
for back-country maps, reservations (for regular and back-country sites),
information on park regulations, and any additional information. ** Note: Those
intending to camp at a back-country site must first register at the park Visitor Centre.
