This entrance is gated during the winter. The trail system at Wentworth Provincial Park
is suited mainly to cross country skiing and consists of the park access roads, former camping
area, access roads and an additional 2.5km loop skirting the park boundary.
The access roads are double-track gravel corridors offering skiers a wide tread suitable for
skating and traditional techniques. The 2.5km loop is newly cut and narrower with variable
terrain. It will take you through forests of mixed woods, hardwood stands, and large stands
of Hemlock. The forest here is home to white tailed deer, red squirrel, rabbits, owls, and
a variety of small song birds. Parts of the trail traverse wet areas which may not be
suitable during spring or fall, making this mainly a cross country ski trail. The return
portion of the out and back loop hand rails a stream. The bank along the shoreline here is
steep and is covered by a hemlock forest. A nice spot for lunch or a break.
A hostel is located a little further down Valley Road. Turn left onto a dirt road and continue
to the hostel on the right. Watch for signage. The hostel also maintains a large network of
trails for skiing, mountain biking and hiking.
All amenities can be found in the Wentworth Valley. There is a pay phone at the park entrance.
You can park your car just outside of the gate at the campsite entrance described (off season).
