DESCRIPTION

The trail descends 1100 ft down a river valley to a cove on the Gulf of St.
Lawrence. There are back-country campsites at the bottom of the river valley but
make sure you consult the Visitor Centre for a permit as there is a fee for
camping.

The grassy area around the campsites was once a tiny community. When camping
here (or anywhere) remember to respect the environment and practice low impact
techniques. You will feel better about leaving this beautiful place if you know
you have done your part in keeping it just as beautiful for others to see, and
for the day you may return.

The trail travels through mixed woods and has benches along its edge. There are
many cherry trees here as well as other types of berry trees. For this reason
the area is popular with many different bird species such as the Cedar Waxwing.
Within the park, there is a bookstore, washrooms, picnic areas, parking, camping
and pay phones.

Near to the park are motels, other campgrounds, banks, gas stations, restaurants
and a general store.
