DESCRIPTION

The trails at Mickey Hill Pocket Wilderness are well suited for family groups
to hike, cross-country ski or snowshoe. There are 3 short trails: the Picnic
Trail, the Beach Trail and the Ski Trail. The longest of these is the Ski
Trail which is 2 km in total (return trip included).

The Picnic Trail leads to the beginning of the other two trails. It is about
1 km return and the Beach Trail is about 400 metres. Only the picnic area is
wheelchair accessible. The Picnic Trail brings travelers through a softwood
forest, and eventually into hardwood stands. There are boardwalks, stairs and
suspension bridges in place to make the path easier to follow. The whole trail
is well blazed and there are interpretation signs at the beginning to explain
about the different types of plants and animals. Of course, there is a spot
along this trail for a picnic.

The Beach Trail runs under a mixed forest canopy to a lakefront. Again, it is a
well blazed and marked trail. You may swim in the lake at your own risk.

The Ski Trail is a less rocky path through mixed woods and into really high
Alders and Ash trees on both sides. There are blue squares nailed to trees to
mark the trail. At the trail head, there is parking, washrooms, garbage cans, and
maps. There is a wilderness outfitter towards Annapolis Royal, approximately 3-4 km
past the Highway 101 overpass. Annapolis Royal itself is about 15-20 minutes away by
car.
